I met Khoi Pham at Wizard World Toronto last year. I was there promoting my web comic “I was a Hero” on comic book daily. I had the luck to sit with Khoi and got to chat alot. I never asked, but he eventually asked me to show him my portfolio. I was shitting bricks, I new my work was lacking as I had not been keeping up with my art that much. I had just started doing the web comic to give me a kick start.
He looked through my whole book and then flipped back to the first drawing, he then proceeded to rip me a new ass hole. I listened intently because as he was telling me all the things wrong with my work, he was giving great advice too. Since that day, I became friends with him on Face book and eventually found out about Ten Ton Studios weekly sketch challenge. Along with many other great artists, Khoi moderates and gives honest critiques to sequentials, and gives a budding artist hope they can progress! I started posting my entries almost two months ago, and I am loving it. There are so many great artists that participate, it keeps everyone on their game!! I have found I am able to produce faster with better results, I know one drawing a week isn’t much but when your working full-time and getting married (oh yeah, getting hitched August 11th!!!), it’s hard to jerk it let alone produce a page your proud enough to upload!
Since I have been absent for so long I’ll start posting away. I will try and keep it up to date!!
